Liz's Bio

Liz is a Design Capacity Consultant with HammondCare's Dementia Centre providing design training and consultancy services and heading up the Dementia Centre's Dementia Choices programme

Liz joined HammondCare initially as an Associate in November 2015 to provide design consultancy whilst living in the UK. In 2017 she relocated to Sydney to join HammondCare’s Property and Capital Works Team, becoming a Design Manager in 2018. With that team she helped deliver new builds including aged care services HammondCare Cardiff and Caulfield, independent living units at  HammondGrove, Miranda, and designed Sinclair Cottage, Australia’s first fully modular dementia-specific cottage environment. 

Liz is a UK-registered Architect, having practiced in the UK between 2005 and 2016 with dementia specialists BPA Architecture. As a Senior Architect and Associate at BPA, she designed care environments, both new builds and refurbishment, rebranding and interior design. Her 90-bed care home for CareUK was a finalist in the 2014 Pinder's awards for 'Best Large Dementia Home'. Liz designed the Virtual Hospital (a finalist in the HSJ Value in Healthcare Awards) and the Virtual Care Home - design tools commissioned by the University of Stirling's Dementia Services Development Centre. 

She was an Associate of the University of Stirling's Dementia Services Development Centre between 2012 and 2015 and is the author of 'Designing Interiors for People with Dementia' (The Publishing Bureau 2013) and a Director at Tor Christian Nursing Home, Edinburgh between 2012 and 2016.
